SIGHTS: The Tasman Peninsula has both spectacular natural scenery, plus Tasmania's premiere historic site of PORT ARTHUR. The PORT ARTHUR village is a World's Heritage listed site and is the most famous convict ruin in Australia. The convict COAL MINE near EAGLEHAWK NECK is also well worth a visit.
Unknown to many people the Tasman Peninsula has some spectacular cliff walks around CAPE PILLAR and CAPE RAOUL and boat tours around the coast of CAPE PILLAR.
At EAGLEHAWK NECK there is also the enigmatic "TESSELATED PAVEMENT", which really looks like an ancient man made wall. Nearby is the TASMAN ARCH, the DEVILS KITCHEN and the BLOWHOLE. Finally there is the TARANNA Wildlife Park.
It is worth noting that from PORT ARTHUR you are 90 minutes from other some very interesting convict ruins in HOBART, RICHMOND and MARIA ISLAND.
